Apologies, I expressed that in the wrong way. What I mean is that EVE has it's fair share of people being asshats, whether pirate or not, and in my personal opinion there is no need for me to add to it. On a side note, I actually find that pirates tend to be quite polite, whereas most of the mission runners I encounter are not. However, this is based on a small sample and obviously doesn't reflect pirates and mission runners as a whole.

I allways try to be an inhabitant of lowsec that clearly is not a pirate as i want those people to exist. ^^
Sometimes i hunt for pirates but not because i want to play a headhunter or hero or whatever but because im bored. I try to make a good living of lowsec carebearing and thats it.
But i do have a market alt because i myself have started as a trader (actually i only began to play Eve because i heard that people could really and succesfully play a trader there and by now its just too easy money for me to not continue.
So yeah, i mostly do what i do not because the Isk/hr is so awesome but because i want to do it. ^^

Heh, I just read the post on Eveoganda that probably spurred this and commented there but I'll comment here as well since it's a subject I hold dear.

The main focus of my "code," for lack of a better term, is quite simply: Honour. Most of that honour is instinctual, meaning that if something doesnt feel right then I don't do it. For example; killing a corpmate: wrong, suicide ganking an innocent in highsec: wrong.

Yet a lot of it is situational, if a corpmate is in the process of stealing assets from the corp and we don't have time to boot him first, yes kill him. If someone is using a macro to mine, etc. I can see justifying that. I guess its just basic right and wrong to an extent with holding to one's word being focal to the ideal. If you said you would or wouldn't do something you stick to that decision so long as someone doesn't try to take advantage of it.

Pretty simple stuff and most of the people I know in game tend to live by those ideals. Even the pirates, actually ESPECIALLY the pirates, some the most dishonourable players I know/knew in EVE were in fact carebears. Food for thought I suppose :)

It is staggeringly profound to point out that EVE doesn't "need" something "unneeded," but how about needed asshattery?

Sarcasm aside, people who correlate piracy with asshattery are a very strange breed indeed.

I have a couple of basic guidelines. One is never commit high sec piracy as well as never attacking miners in low security and my other guideline is to never treat anyone with hostility. Whether they be gankers, war targets or a scanner who just helped me empty my wallet, the universe of EVE doesn't need more unneeded asshattery.

Compared to the usual crap that drops from a mission-running dessie, this is like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one. After all, I am but a poor pirate. These faction items are ordinarily out of my reach. n.n
